TopRank Marketing Team Spotlight: Interview with Account Manager Leila De La Fuente

Our first interview in the series is with Account Manager Leila De La Fuente. In her time at TopRank Marketing, Leila has shown a great deal of passion and dedication for her role. To give you an idea of what makes Leila tick, take a peek at her insights below.

Interview with Leila De La Fuente

Q: What is something unique that you bring to your role as an Account Manager?

A: I started my career as a web development assistant, where I received some hardcore “on the ground” training in every aspect of development, content and SEO. Bringing that insider knowledge to an Account Manager role provides me key insight into “why” and “how” a strategy will unfold.

Q: What are 3 traits that you believe define you?

A: Genuine, Flexible, Motivated

Q: Who inspires you?

A: I like to take pieces of inspiration from many sources.

My parents laid the foundation for inspiring me to reach for the stars with my career. I take inspiration from trailblazers like Lee Odden, that push me to think out of the box, and anticipate the next greatest thing. My two children are also strong inspiration for staying grounded, and focusing on my true priorities in life.

Q: What do you think it takes to be successful at TopRank Marketing?

A: A go-getter attitude and the ability to learn quickly and then run with things.

Q: How does our mission to be smart, creative and focused on results guide how you make decisions for your client programs?

A: I’m an “observer” by nature. I tend to soak in all of the information presented before I make my move. TopRank Marketing’s mission helps guide the decisions I make, and encourages me to focus on end objectives instead of letting the day-to-day fires impact my direction.

Q: What is your spirit animal and why?

A: A squirrel – they are just SO cute and fluffy, with a little bit of an attitude (Minneapolis squirrels have a particular attitude). They keep you on your toes, they’re entertaining, they’re dedicated (mostly to collecting nuts and stealing my garbage), but they are also so lovable.

Q: What is one piece of career advice that you’d give to other people looking to work at an agency like TopRank Marketing?

A: Success is in the details. Agency life is fast-paced, and managing your responsibilities can get overwhelming for someone that’s disorganized. Don’t try to rely on your brain to keep everything straight – find a system that works for you to manage details and due dates (ie: Outlook reminders, daily checklists, etc.).

Q: What are you looking forward to most in your career?

A: I love to travel, I love to teach and I love to learn. 10 years down the line, I hope to have established my expertise enough to allow me to do all 3 as part of my position.
