What is it Like to Work at TopRank Marketing? The @TopRank Team Weighs In


We are fortunate enough to work in an industry and for a company that is more than just a job. Our team is comprised of individuals that work together to create some incredibly awesome digital marketing for our clients, and have a great time in the process.

One of my favorite things about digital marketing is that the rules often evolve and barriers can always be pushed.

TopRank Marketing is currently on the hunt for some smart, creative and like-minded digital marketing professionals that want to become an integral part of our organization. To give you a taste of what it’s like to work at TopRank Marketing, I’ve interviewed a handful of our team members to share their honest take on their experience as a part of our team.


Josh Nite – Content Marketing Lead

What is the most important thing you’ve learned since starting at TopRank Marketing?

I’d say the most important thing I’ve learned is how content marketing fits into the entire marketing apparatus. I knew how to write good copy when I was hired, but at TopRank I learned about all of the other pieces that go into a campaign and how they complement each other. That’s made my writing far more focused. So I’m definitely a better marketer than I was when I started—but I’m also a better writer.



Amie Krone – Operations Manager

You’ve been at TopRank Marketing for nearly 9 Years (next month, actually!), what is it that has made you want to stay?

I love the fast-paced environment and the ability to continually grow. When I started, I was fresh out of college, with little marketing experience under my belt. Being able to grow and push boundaries and constantly learn new areas of business – that’s what made me stay. I am the type of person that loves learning – I want to be the ‘know-it-all’ or the resource people can go to with questions and be able to leave with answers.

The idea of doing the same thing day-in and day-out sounds absolutely awful to me – variety is the spice of life, right? TopRank’s values of learning, truth and results  all speak to me and I really value the opportunities I’ve been given over my tenure here.



Joel Carlson – Social Media Lead

What are some of the differences you’ve experienced in working at a mid-sized agency like TopRank Marketing versus a large corporation?

In one word: variety. At an agency, you have the opportunity to work with a variety of different clients which means developing marketing ideas and strategies for different audiences. If you work for a large corporation, you probably just have one audience. If that one audience is something you’re really passionate about, then you’ll do well. If you really want though to challenge your creativity, an agency is the path to choose.



Alexis Hall – Director of Client Accounts

What advice do you have for someone who wants to join the TopRank Marketing account team?

The account team is front and center with clients, so you should be ready to spend a lot of time interacting with many of our amazing client contacts. Your #1 job is cultivating an awesome relationship with the client, so hone your ability to create a connection and be compelling both in person and on the phone.

As an account team member, not only do you interface with clients, you are also the touch point for all the team members deploying tactics for your client. This is a great opportunity to work with a lot of team members, learn a lot about all aspects of an integrated mix and exercise your organizational skills to ensure every client deliverable is on time and on target in terms of quality.



Emily Paulson – Content Marketing Manager

What can someone joining our team expect in their first week?

New hires can expect to be challenged, believed in, and completely impressed by the brilliant people roaming the office. The team will welcome you with a lunch in your honor, and you’ll have orientation, meetings to get to know your fellow team members and some new processes to learn. Bonus, you will also find a ridiculous amount of licorice on your desk when you arrive.



Ashley Zeckman – Director of Agency Marketing

What is your favorite thing about working at TopRank Marketing?

In no particular order it is the people, the knowledge transfer and the collaboration. I have learned more at TopRank Marketing than any other position in my career and am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to have one-on-one access to what I consider to be some of the brightest minds in our industry. Working here has enabled me to constantly push myself to be better and to do more.



Shaya Clark – Operations Coordinator

What are 3 things someone that wants to work at TopRank should do to prepare for an interview with the team?

  1. Do a little research.We don’t expect an applicant to know when TopRank was founded or have a detailed understanding of our client history, but a general understanding of who we are will help.
  2. Prepare some questions. Good interviews are good conversations, and that means we want to give you as much information as we get from you.
  3. Relax. We’re excited to speak with you! Let your inner rock star shine.
