Some think the expression “influencer” is an expired term. But the role of influence on B2B buying decisions is irrefutable.
Sixty-five percent of multinational brands will increase influencer marketing spending in the next 12 months, according to the World Federation of Advertisers. And the 2019 Content Preferences Survey from DGR stated that 95% of respondents favor credible content from industry influencers, a 30% increase over last year.
As we assess the current landscape and look to 2020 and beyond, there are several trends worth noting:
  1. Increased use of artificial intelligence
  2. Democratization of influence
  3.  Growth of brandividual media
  4. A continued shift to more engaging content formats
  5. Consumerization of B2B influencers and the content they help create
  6. Integration of influencer and other martech tools
  7. Enhanced focus on influencer experience management
